Get To Know Lawrence Manetti

Hello Parishioners of St. Cletus,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Lawrence Manetti and I am very excited to have been given the opportunity by Father Elmer to be joining the staff of St. Cletus as the Director of Faith Formation for Children.
As a way of introduction I’d like to share my background. Along with my credentials as an educational leader, I hold a Master Degree in Religious Education and my certification from the Archdiocese in Faith Formation.

The past two years I have been serving the St. Stephen Deacon & Martyr parish as the Faith Formation Director. Prior to my taking the position at St. Stephen I served as a principal in the Archdiocese of Chicago Schools retiring in June of 2020 from St. Joseph in Summit where I served for 24 years. The last three years in which I served as principal and D.R.E. working with our school and Religious Education families, particularly within our sacramental preparation.

I firmly believe parents are the first Catechists of their children. It is you who bring your children to the Catholic faith through baptism and have the responsibility to nurture them within the Church through your family. My goal, in working with our catechists is to support families and bring our children to a relationship with Jesus Christ. Children are the future leaders of the Catholic Church and to assure they are prepared to assume that role we collectively, must guarantee they are grounded in their faith. As I begin this new ministry my immediate focus will be on the Religious Education of our parish children. In time I hope to become more involved adult formation and become more involved in the life and ministry of the parish.

I have always believed in maintaining an open door policy and hope to continue that practice here at St. Cletus. To that end, during August I will be in the office on Monday, (9:30 am – 3:30 pm), Wednesday, (11:00 am – 7:00 pm), and Fridays, (9:00 am until 12:00 noon). My hope is as we work together and meet, you feel comfortable to approach me with ideas that you may have in making our program better. Our ultimate goal is that we all come to know God and to continue developing our relationship with Him, this will only help us lead our children and strengthen their faith.
