Celebrating Dolores Scaletta

This week marks the 25th anniversary of Dolores Scaletta leading our Mission Ladies. We surprised her at the weekly Mission Ladies meeting to thank her for her service. Un-der her leadership, the group continues to grow in membership, making nearly 1,000 handmade items such as dolls, lap robes, footballs and wheel chair bags to donate to charitable organizations in our community.

In just a few weeks, Dolores will be 96 years old! That does not slow her down though. Always with a quick joke and smart remark, her mind is sharp and she can get anyone to crack a smile or start to giggle. Her naturally friendly demeanor and ability to connect with anyone is truly a gift in her leadership. Dolores keeps herself busy, always crafting and making things whether its Baptismal bibs for all babies baptized at St. Cletus, blankets for women going through cancer treatment or even push pin pillows for her friends and fellow Mission Ladies.

Recently, St. Cletus nominated Dolores for a GEM award with Ageing Care Connec-tions. During Aging Care Connections’ Aging Well Month in May (Older Americans Month) they are honoring and celebrating the volunteer efforts of older adults who gener-ously give their time to make their communities great places to age well. The honorees are recognized as Community GEMs—older adults Going the Extra Mile through volunteer work to better their community.

Please join us in thanking and celebrating Dolores for her 25 years of leadership with the Mission Ladies and for her up-coming birthday. Thank you Dolores!
