New Born Presentation

“When the days were completed for their purification* according to the law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord.”
-Luke 2: 22-23

The Presentación, or Presentation of a Child, is a meaningful Hispanic tradition that honors the Virgin Mary's presentation at the temple and the Presentation of the Baby Jesus. This custom is a precursor to Baptism, allowing parents to express gratitude to God for the gift of new life, seek divine protection for their child, and give thanks for a safe delivery.

If you're interested in having your child presented in the Church at the 12:30 p.m. Mass, please contact Juanita Avila at 708.215.5441 to arrange the details, at least three weeks in advance.
