Eucharist / First Communion

Children: First Holy Communion is a pivotal sacrament in the Catholic faith, marking the second step in the Sacraments of Initiation, alongside Baptism and Confirmation. This sacred ritual, also known as the Eucharist, celebrates the real presence of Christ in the bread, wine, and community, and is a cornerstone of Catholic life. Through regular participation in Communion, starting from age 7, Catholics are nourished by Jesus' body and blood, and are inspired to spread God's love and the Good News of Jesus to the world. Typically, children prepare since the first grade and receive their First Communion in the second grade, embarking on a lifelong journey of faith and devotion.

The Parish prepares children for the Sacrament of First Communion through the Faith Formation Program. For more information click here or call Norma Hernandez at the Faith Formation office at 708.968.6474.

Adults: OCIA is the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults and is the process by which one is initiated — baptized, confirmed and receives the Eucharist — in the Catholic Church. Those interested in joining the Catholic Church or completing their sacrament, can click here for more information.
