The St. Cletus Music Ministry is a vibrant place filled with wonderful people who desire to share their love for singing and music by putting it to use in service to their church. We welcome singers – from the professionally trained to those who simply enjoy singing along – to join us this year! The opportunities to join are detailed below and all choirs begin their seasons in September.
The Chancel Choir is our “traditional” adult choir who lead the congregation in song at the 9:30 am Sunday liturgy. This group of nearly 40 men and women work together each week to sing as an ensemble and foster musical relationships as well as friendships. Rehearsals are weekly on Thursday evenings 7:30-9:15 pm. Contact the Music Ministry at 708-215-5423 for more information.
The Contemporary Ensemble leads song at the 5:00 pm Saturday liturgy approximately twice per month. This choir, open to singers and instrumentalists high-school age and up, typically rehearses at 4:00 prior to the 5:00 mass and twice a month. While there is no prerequisite to join, some experience reading music or participating in a choir/band is helpful. We are looking for singers as well as instrumentalists (of any kind!) who want to serve in this way – contact the Music Ministry at 708-215-5423 for more information.
All students, grades three through eight, are invited to join one of the two Youth Choirs. Still time to register and participate and if you are in sports this fall perhaps you’d like to start mid-year. See information flyer for details; registration form and this year’s rehearsal/mass schedule are also available. Questions? Contact Mrs. Ziemba, Director, 708-710-0644 or email@example.com. The Good Shepherd Choir is an adult choir that sings on an as needed basis at funeral liturgies and memorial services scheduled at 10:00 a.m. or 11:15 a.m. at our parish. If you have a flexible day-time schedule, enjoy singing and have a desire to be present to the bereaved of our parish, we encourage you to consider this ministry. Participation in this choir does not require you to be available every day, but rather, you would participate as your schedule permits, even if that means you could only attend one or two days during the week. Questions regarding this ministry should be addressed to Larry Lalonde, 708-215-5423.
The Teen Choir leads song at the 5pm liturgy on Saturdays twice a month. They rehearse on Sunday afternoons at 4pm twice a month. All Teens are welcome to join!
