The teens who will attend the mission trip this summer are raising money by selling Fannie May Easter Candy. Find out how you can buy your “Eastery” candy from Fannie May tax-free and have it delivered to your door for free!
Attention ALL High School St. Cletus Parish Girls…
Season will begin after spring break and will last approximately 6 weeks. Practice will be in Morrissey Hall once a week beginning in mid to late March with games usually on Saturday night and on an occasional Sunday.
First come, first serve. Please turn your forms in right away, as there may be a waiting list. Teams will be filled based on the order in which applications are received. Forms will not be accepted after March 5th.
Every effort is made for all players to have equal playing time in regular season.
Girls are still eligible to play even if they played for their high school teams as long as the high school season has ended.
The fee this year will be $85.00 per player. Please make checks payable to St. Cletus Church. This fee covers your T-shirt, referee & scorekeeper fees, and space rental fees.
To avoid disappointment, please complete the attached registration form and return it at once, along with the $85.00 fee to the rectory or mail it to:

The Mission Trip planning is underway for the summer of 2017. St. Cletus will again be taking a group of teens who have completed at least one year of high school through the Young Neighbors in Action service experience the week of July 16th-22nd to South Bend, IN. YNIA offers teens a way to grow in faith and join in prayer while also participating in mission and serving those in need. The theme for this year is Anointed to Serve, which is based on Luke 4:18: “The spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.” At our site in particular, we will see the many ways God asks us to bring good news to the poor.
If you feel called to answer this call, register now! Registration is open now through February 3rd, or until all spots are taken. Meetings for team building, mission formation, and fundraising plans will begin this winter. Adult chaperones are needed to make this possible! If you have questions, contact Elizabeth Tomasek.
WHAT? Fretus is the Freshmen/Sophomore Winter Retreat. This is a combined effort between St. Francis Xavier and St. Cletus Parishes. This retreat is an opportunity for freshmen and sophomore teens to examine their faith, reflect on where they are in their journeys with God, with themselves, and with others, learn a few things, and have an outrageous amount of fun!
WHEN? January 13-15, 2017
WHERE? Camp Quarryledge in Oswego, IL
HOW? Complete the registration form and submit it along with the $125 fee (made payable to St. Francis Xavier) to Elizabeth Tomasek at St Cletus by December 18th. Space is limited!
In today’s society, it can be difficult for teenagers to put their Catholic beliefs into action or to defend their faith while respectfully listening to others’ beliefs. Parents need the support of the parish community to help pass on the faith and provide guidance. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Renewing the Vision identifies three objectives of youth ministry: to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today; to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community; and to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person. St. Cletus’ teen faith formation program has been designed to meet the Bishops’ goals.
The major components that will be used to provide teen faith formation are:
- One small group faith formation/discussion per month on a Sunday afternoon/early evening
in the home of adult catechists or on St. Cletus campus
- One large group faith formation/discussion per month on a Sunday afternoon/early evening at St. Cletus or another specified location
- Teen Hosted Masses that will be celebrated periodically throughout the year
- Service projects that will be incorporated into the schedule (additional ones will be offered throughout the year)
There are other optional components but will be offered throughout the year such as retreats, extended events, informal social gatherings at St. Cletus, and social outings.
We hope to begin small groups in September and continue through May. However, we are looking for other adults to help facilitate these groups. These adults do not have to be parents of teens or even parents at all. All volunteers would need to complete a one-time 3 hour VIRTUS training. Adults would be expected to lead a small group monthly with a curriculum that is provided. Periodic conversations will take place to assess how things are going, and I will be available always to offer input and discuss questions. Please see the attached about volunteering, and please spread the word that help is needed if you feel someone else may be a good fit for this ministry!
I am so very excited to grow in faith with the teens! I am always available to answer your questions about the ministry. Please contact me at (708) 215-5419 or email@example.com.
