Food Pantry Updates
We had a great group from the Senior Class at Nazareth Academy who volunteered in their Circle the City Day of Service by helping at our food pantry distribution. Thank you!
Grants Awarded to the Food Pantry!
This year we applied for, and received, two large grants to help us in our food pantry transition. First, was the Catholic Relief Services-Rice Bowl Grant. We were awarded $1,500 to purchase shelving, as well as an ipad, keyboard, and case for our new intake system.
We were also awarded $10,000 from the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) Capacity Building Agency Grant Program! These funds were used to purchase two commercial size refrigerators and two freezers, six shelving units, and funds allocated to our GCFD account to purchase refrigerated/frozen items such as milk, meat, eggs, etc.
In addition to the GCFD grant, we were also given two ipads and keyboards from GCFD to transition our clients to the online registration system, Food Bank Manager. This donation is worth $1,500.
We’re so grateful for the generous support of these organizations; as well as the ongoing support of our donors. Thank you for making this work possible!
