Thank you to all who donated items for last week’s monthly food distribution, and/or donated their time preparing for it. This is a major undertaking each month, which could not happen without YOUR participation. St. John of the Cross generously provided 50 boxes of donations from their Harvest Collection, thank you!
There will be no regular distribution in December because of the Giving Tree and Christmas food baskets. Donations are still needed and will continue to be collected though!
This month when you do your grocery shopping at the Jewel store across the street from St. Cletus, please remember to tell your cashier that you would like to help St. Cletus Food Pantry by purchasing $1, $5, or $10 in Jewel Turkey Bucks. Your thoughtful donation will help bring a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to a family in our community that otherwise may have gone without. Thank you!
Volunteers are needed to stand at the Jewel Osco doors and invite customers to donate. Various daily opportunities are available from October 28-November 19.
**Please note…this is an unsupervised volunteer opportunity and an adult is recommended to be present** This calendar simply coordinates dates/times. Volunteers must check in with Donna (Jewel Manager) or another supervisor when they start their shift. Parents, use your discretion based on your child’s age and maturity to decide if they should be dropped off or need a parent present during the volunteer shift. Let us share Christ’s message of hope with others during this Advent season by taking a tag or two from our Advent Giving Trees this weekend. We are thankful for your past generosity in purchasing multiple gifts for the individual(s) you choose. We are asking this year, for some of you to consider taking an additional tag or two, and perhaps buying fewer gifts for each name you pick. Consider buying gift cards from the St. Cletus School Script (formerly Manna) program to use for shopping.
Please remember, each tag represents a real person. When you take a tag from the tree, you are making a commitment to that person, and to returning your gift(s) on time.
PURPLE TAGS (gifts): Choose the gifts you wish to purchase, keeping in mind that the items listed on the tag are part of a “wish list.” You need not purchase every item on the list. Gifts are to be returned before/after Masses the weekend of December 9-10. **NEW THIS YEAR** Gifts will be returned to Morrissey Hall using the convenient drop off lane on Stone Ave.!
RED TAGS (food baskets): Tags include a suggested list for the contents of a Christmas season food basket for the families using our food pantry and others struggling in our community. Food baskets are needed on Sunday, December 17th from 7:30-11:00am in Morrissey Hall.
We invite you to stop in the narthex this weekend to take a tag or two from one of the Giving Trees. We are thankful for your past generosity in purchasing many gifts for the individual(s) you choose. Thank you! Your generosity will provide hope and make a difference in someone’s life. Friday, December 8th from 4:15-5: Help set up Morrissey Hall for Giving Tree gift collection.
Saturday, December 9th shifts between 3:30-6:30pm: Help direct traffic, carry in donations from donor’s cars, sort and organize gifts in Morrissey Hall.
Sunday, December 10th shifts between 6:30am-4pm: Help with hospitality, direct traffic, carry in donations from donor’s cars, sort and organize gifts in Morrissey Hall, load gifts to bring to St. Agatha’s.
Sunday, December 17th shifts between 6:30am-6:30pm: Help with hospitality, directing traffic, carrying in food basket donations, organizing food baskets, distributing gifts, assisting clients to their vehicles, clean up, etc.

Monthly Domestic Violence Support Group
If you or someone close to you is experiencing domestic violence this group may be very helpful.
The objective of the group is to provide all a chance to talk about domestic violence and share questions, concerns and experiences with others who are facing – or who have faced – similar situations in confidence.

Impress to Connect
Please join us on Thursday, November 16 from 7-9 pm. Our speaker this evening is former ICN member, Laura Cognato. Laura has walked the walk; she understands first hand what many job seekers experience in their search. Laura was between positions and hadn’t been on a single interview in more than a year. Two years ago she faced the “FourFecta” of job search hurdles when she discovered a new approach that led her to interview with 16 companies and get 3 job offers within 90 days. Laura will share the “Impress to Connect” strategies she used to land her dream job. You will learn proven tools and tactics to apply to your job search.
